A couple of weeks ago I got a call that because ALEX had given toys for the new movie The Smurfs, Sony Pictures had provided us with two tickets to the exclusive Smurfs premiere! I was to go as a representative of the ALEX Design Department.

I was looking for a special project to do with Lori for her Nana’s birthday – one that would be nice enough to give as a gift and still be tons of fun for Lori to make on her own. Sometimes when I give her a bunch of art supplies and free reign, the end result is a real mess. Other times, she gets too caught up in following directions and doesn’t get to enjoy making the actual project or to put her own little personal touches on it. And that is the stuff grandparents appreciate most! That is why I got so excited when I found the Cupcake Craft Kit!

The Crafting Connection

In the days of old before I had kids, I wasn’t what you’d call the “crafting” type. In my mind, that sort of thing was for old biddies with 18 cats, and Martha Stewart. But now that I’m a mom of four, I have become a crackerjack crafter. Aside from engaging the kiddies, building their motor skills and hand-eye coordination, promoting their creativity and keeping their attention AWAY FROM THE TELEVISION, crafting is a great opportunity for us to do something fun together and score some one-of-a-kind home décor.
