ALEX Toys, crafts for preschoolersCan you believe fall is here already? It’s my absolute favorite time of year for the cooler weather and changing leaves that serve as vibrant inspiration for crafts to make together and then use as decorations around the house. The kids and I Iove to decorate our home for fall with various seasonal décor that we create ourselves such as painting colorful fall trees, or making scarecrow families to hang in our school room.

Here’s a fun and easy fall décor craft that we’ve enjoyed, perfect to make with your little ones at home. It only takes a few minutes, and your toddlers and preschoolers will love crafting with tissue paper!

Indian Corn Craft

This easy craft can be made with a variety of supplies. For ours we used green construction paper, white cardstock, and tissue paper squares in orange, yellow, and red from our Tissue Paper Art (cut into fourths) and a glue stick.

I first drew an ear and husk shapes that could use as “templates”. We  then cut out the ear of corn shape from the white cardstock, and two corn husk shapes from the green construction paper using the template. After gluing the husk shapes to the ear of corn, we crumbled up the tissue paper squares, and glued them our “ear” of corn. We used all three colors making a pretty Indian corn pattern.

It was so easy and quick, we ended up making two more ears of corn and gluing them all together in a group. My daughter decided to write her name on hers. We went digging around and even added some fun crepe paper strips from our ALEX Crafty Kit, and a cute little ribbon bow!

For your preschoolers, there’s a super cute scarecrow craft in the ALEX Ready, Set, Paste! kit that’s easy and all prepared to put together quickly. Have fun creating and decorating your home with beautiful fall colors!
