One of our family’s favorite fall activities are the different Fall Festivals in our community. A chance to celebrate the season, enjoy the cooler weather, and have tons of fun, a Fall Festival is also the perfect excuse to have some friends over!

You can easily host your own Fall Festival right in your own backyard just for your children, or for a group of children. Fall Festivals can include games, prizes, sweet treats, preschoolers, school-age children, take place during the day, or in the evening. You can create your own Fall Festival to suit your needs or to fit a certain theme. The possibilities are endless! Here are a few things to think about when throwing your own Fall Festival.

The Food: Food at a Fall Festival can be as easy as a small treat bag filled with candy, or as extravagant as fall themed acorn topped cupcakes. Kids are easy to please, so don’t stress! As long as you make it sweet and easy to eat with their hands, they will love it!

The Games: Again, as busy as we are, convenience is key. Look for game ideas that require little to no set up. Classic games like bobbing for apples are always a hit.  We’ve really enjoyed some good ‘ole sack races this fall. ALEX Toys has a couple of super cute sack racing games (pictured above).  Keep in mind the ages of your guests when choosing games. Picking games that are too easy or too difficult can seriously decrease the fun factor! Jungle Croquet is a great option for a variety of ages. Any type of easy to play outside game is sure to be a hit!

The Guests: A Fall Festival can be a special treat just for your family, or a super fun activity for your children and their friends. When putting a guest list together, keep in mind the children’s ages, and make sure you choose food and games that correlate well with the ages of the children you are inviting. We all love a great get together, but if time and money don’t allow it, stick to just you and your kiddos. I promise, you’ll still have a blast!

These are just a few ideas to get you started planning your Fall Festival! Decorate with balloons. Give out prizes. Make it a fun memory for all involved, and enjoy these last few weeks of the beautiful fall weather with your family!
