How to teach your preschooler about Valentine's DayValentine’s Day is just around the corner, and we are gearing up for a day of LOVE at our house.

From the oldest to the youngest, my kiddos adore Valentine’s Day. It’s a special day to celebrate love – the love you have for each other, and your friends.

Sometimes preschoolers don’t quite understand what Valentine’s Day is all about, and as a traditionally adult-geared holiday, that’s understandable.

Here are five fun ways you can add a little Valentine’s love into your day that will both entertain and educate your little one.

Welcome to Juice Box City, population – how ever many juice boxes you can drink!

Take a drive down Orange Lavaburst Lane or see what’s happening at Flashin’ Fruit Punch Park. The best part about this craft printable is the added play value. The kiddies will be happy to build an entire town that they can cruise around with their toy cars. These buildings are a great addition to any playmat,  or the little ones can continue to get creative by drawing their own roads and scenery to build around.

What are you waiting for? Starting drinking those juice boxes! Get out your crafting tools and start building your very own town.

Here are my favorite ways to conquer the gloom whether it is due to sickness or weather!

kid arts and crafts, kids activities

My kids had a fantastic time making these “Cool Stuff” Shrinky Dinks! Shrinky Dinks are made out of a special “paper” that shrinks down in the oven, so it’s like making your very own toys! This particular kit has fun robots, vehicles, and other pre-cut shapes to color. The colored pencils come included, so it was a simple project to pull out on a dark, rainy afternoon – and it was also a quick enough project to let the kids do as a reward for getting ready for school really quickly in the morning!

This craft printable is purr-fect for those little ones who need extra practice with their cutting and pasting skills. If they are too young to do it on their own, you can help by cutting out the pieces for them.

In addition to improving developmental skills, this craft can also be used as an exercise to help teach the different parts of the body. Sing along as you go – “Head, shoulder, knees and toes…”

TThis is not your ordinary snowman. Nope! This snowman might have button eyes and a carrot nose, but it also likes to dress up as a puppy, a scuba diver and sometimes it even like to grow a beard!

Its the perfect craft activity for kids to use their imagination. Put on a wintery fashion show! You can even print out multiple pages to dress-up more snowmen bodies.
